KIKEH SPAR
Our clients trusted us to deliver the detail design for the 1.4 billion dollar DTU KIKEH SPAR HULL in a very tight schedule . The fate of SPAR was dependent on SD to deliver accurate cutting data, production drawings on time.

SD is the first company in ASIA to successfully execute the detail design project for a SPAR.

3D Modeling, Generate Production drawings, NC Code, Nesting drawings, Weld Logs, Part list,

6 Hard Tanks, Deck Leg Supports, Chain Jack Foundations, Fairlead Foundation, Hard Tank truss  Connections ,FTL Porches, TTR Guide, TTR Frames 

Location of Work: 
Malaysia Marine Heavy Engineering (Malaysia, Johor Bahru), Silicon Designs (India Bangalore, Technip (Finland).

Highlights
35000 man hour project - On time delivery. 
Accurate cutting data supplied, which is a key in these projects. Any fault in cutting data would delay the project by 3 months. 
First time ever a global delivery model was tried out saving significant costs to our client with world class quality. 
Three teams working across the globe on design / detail design (SD in India, MMHE in Malaysia and Technip in Finland), to make this project as success

Challenges
No time to understand the yard specific Tribon standards

How we overcame those challenges
Our Tribon practice head traveled onsite to understand yard standards and train the modelers back in India 
SD developed its own database of cutouts, end connections, brackets codes for Tribon
Our engineers set up the entire project in a matter of 6 hours
SD made changes and got the multi site review done with Technip – Finland, MMHE- Malaysia and SD - Bangalore. 
SD engineers were quick to adopt the new changes and release the drawings accurately
SD engineers undergo soft skills training to work effectively with different work cultures and geographic locations
