SD was given the task of providing detailed engineering services to the 12000 workshop steel structure. The basic design was done by one of the most reputed companies in Malaysia.

Challenges
SD started detailing the drawings and the drawings were sent to our consultants who
rejected the drawings saying that the basic design is faulty. A lot of detail and weld symbols were provided wrongly by the basic designers. Our personal could not proceed with the drawings because the Technical queries didn’t get favorable replies from the basic design team.
How SD overcame the challenges
SD took the initiative and gave the mandate to its consultants to review the basic designs with the input available on the drawing sheets. Our consultants brought about few serious, issues which if not ad-dressed would lead to the catastrophic failure of the entire structure, were brought to the notice of our clients MMHE. The basic design team didn’t accept the claims but SD substantiated the claims by doing FEM analysis.
All the suggestion / changes proposed by SD consultants was accepted by the basic design team and the changes were carried out in the basic design.
SD complimented this change by deploying additional
personal onsite and carrying out the revision changes in a very short duration of time, so that the fabrication schedules don’t get effected resulting in Customer delight.
